Some customer comments:

We happened upon this listing and decided for a last minute stay. If you’re reading this review, just book it! You won’t regret it! It was the most wonderful serendipitous experience. Henry was the best host. He was so pleasant, welcoming and just delightful. This is more than a castle, it’s a home full of hundreds of years of history, and charm. Henry explained so many details about the home’s history. So many beautiful paintings and antiques. Just exquisite. It’s well maintained and updated. The beds were cozy warm and comfortable. It was an honor to be able to stay in such a beautiful home.

My wife and I had a great experience sleeping in such amazing castle. The castle is great and still has the old classic touch. Moreover, the castle owner is very welcoming and friendly and the castle care takers are as well. We took an amazing tour in the castle, and visited great restaurants in the area. I recommend to take the optional breakfast, it’s part of the experience. Finally, highly recommended! Thanks!

Truly amazing, one of a kind experience! Warm welcome by Agnes, followed up by the awesome/private caste tour hosted by Henry. It was truly incredible and I don’t know so many other places where you could experience that. The castle, the room and everything was super clean! If you are considering this you should definitely visit and stay a night - amazing castle / family home with a super interesting history.”
“This is exactly as described and more. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, modern finishes, and the most attentive staff. The owner provides perfect communication, which is wonderful. We had a perfect stay.

We stayed here with our two sons ages 8 and 10. It was a really cool experience - our first time staying in a castle! Henry gave us a tour of the venue that he and his family have invested quite a bit in restoring and preserving. There are parts of the house that are museum level with artifacts, art, and furniture. That being said, guests have access to quite a bit of the castle and I would love to return with another family or a few friends. The surrounding towns have several nice places to eat, though the only one we ended up trying was Grand Cafe Het Koethuis Ooidonk just outside the castle and it was excellent! You are a 30 minute drive to Ghent and slighly longer to Brugges, both worth visiting. We also spent quite a bit of time in the surrounding gardens and forests. The boys enjoyed running around and watching the different birds. Agnes, the property manager/housekeeper/breakfast chef did a wonderful job caring for us. You should definitely stay here!
